Exploring a Miniature World

Imagine being small enough to explore the miniature Thorne Rooms at the Art Institute of Chicago. Designed in the 1930s by Mrs. James Ward Thorne, these 68 displays recreate in exacting detail the appearance of various rooms throughout history.

Thanks to author Marianne Malone, you can explore the Thorne Rooms in her novel, The Sixty-Eight Rooms.

Ms. Malone has created a fascinating fantasy tale about the Thorne Rooms, which readers ages 9-12 should find both exciting and intriguing. As you discover the secrets of the rooms, you will be wondering what will happen next.

After reading the book, perhaps you could visit the Thorne Rooms at the Art Institute of Chicago. You will be truly amazed. The world is a big place, but, sometimes, it is the small places that capture your imagination.
